in its tracks. this is why president obama wants us to buck up. i'm following those orders in a commentary tonight. >>> and john boehner and his crew, they don't really care about the middle class. they don't care about the divided american we live in, because you see the income gap between the rich and poor is at an all-time high and republicans have nothing to say about it. jessie jackson sounds off. what can we do about it? president obama takes off the gloves and hammering fox news. he says fox promotes a point of view that is destructive. now, for a guy who always rips on the cables, i think the president would do a pretty good job if he was on cable. we do it every night, mr. president. this is the story that has me fired up tonight. the most powerful elected republican in america is plotting to stop the united states government dead in its tracks procedurally. on monday night, senator "waterloo" jim demint warned he would place a hold on any legislation that would not been cleared by his office before the close of business today. demint, as i said a couple weeks, he'

i love election years. that does it for us tonight. keith olbermann starts right now. that does it for us. good night. >>> good evening americans and welcome to the "the ed show" tonight from new york, these stories are hit my hot buttonsa this is hour. newt gingrich, i think, has hit a new low. playing to the birther fringe of the republican party. accusing the president of the united states of having a kenyon world view. you won't believe how low this guy has gone. i've got commentary on that. this kind of radical thinking has infuriated our schools across the country, educators are trying to keep your kids away from president obama. parents are being warned about indoctrination during his back-to-school speech. my commentary on all of that coming up in just a moment. >>> and the tan man's act, well, he's got to find a new act. he wants to -- you to believe, that he really cares about the middle class and the middle-class tax cuts. democratic house majority whip, jim clyburn will be here to blow his cover in the battleground story. >>> this of course the story that has me fire

taxpayers. this is the same garbage that the republicans used to get us into two off-budget wars and an off-budget medicare prescription drug bill and tax cuts for millionaires that were never accounted for that drove us right into the ditch and into record debt, record foreign debt, record trade deficit, all that good stuff that they try to pin on president obama. i find it more than ironic, john boehner picked a small business to break out his brand-new playbook for america. right after the event passed the house -- the house passed president obama's $30 billion small business bill 237-187 and we should point out that just one republican voted for the bill, just one. republicans are complete frauds when it comes to fixing this economy. they have no plan. there's nothing more american than getting money directly into the hands of small businesses to create jobs and they've been against it. boehner's pledge is filled with tax cuts for the rich, spending cuts to the poor, and it offers nothing to the middle class in the way of job creation, other than a measly tax cut. republicans want to re
